How to Burn Wii ISOs to Disc

Hey all – I just stumbled on a couple of methods for burning a Wii ISO download to disc that I wanted to share with you. This is applicable when you’re either making a backup of a Wii game that you already own, or when you’ve downloaded a pirated copy from a site like IsoHunt.com.Wii ISO Download - Download Full Version Games  (Note: If you do download a pirated game, you MUST burn it to disc using one of these methods.  You cannot just play it on your Wii’s Hard Drive like you can with games from a site like 4 Wii Downloads.)

Now, both of these methods are soft mods.  They don’t involve a mod chip or anything that would void your warranty.  However, the first one that I’m going to detail is a little tricky and technical – it basically involves installing a hacked IOS.  I’m giving full instructions because it’s the method that’s free.  The other method, that you’ll find here, is much easier, and their website includes instructions, but does have a small cost associated with it.

Instrucciones for the Free Method:

Part One:  Download the Hacked IOS

Grab the requisite files for the custom, hacked IOS.  I can’t give a link, since #1, they change so frequently, and #2, it’s technically illegal.  I’m assuming that if you’re up for attempting this, you must be somewhat of a geek.  Don’t be lazy.  Google it or check the discussion boards!  Then, once you’ve gotten your paws on it, copy the IOS onto the root directory of your SD Card.

Part Two: Install that Bitch

You’ve already got the Homebrew channel installed, right?  If not, see my post here.  Open up  Homebrew -> Choose ”Apps/dIOS Rev8/boot.dol” ->  Select “Load” -> Select “WAD Install” ->restart/reboot your console.

Part Three: Throw DVDx onto the Wii

Load up the Homebrew Channel again -> Click Apps/DVDx/boot.dol or whatever your path is -> Select “Advanced Install” for the custom or hacked IOS that you’ve already installed->Hit “Done”

Part Four: Load Backup Loader

Don’t skip this part – Take your time and do it right!  Get back into the Homebrew channel again.  Go to the path Apps/WADManager1.3/boot.dol (or whatever your path is) -> Choose “Load” ->Choose “Backup Loader (Version #)” -> Select “Done”

Part Five: Download the latest patches for that IOS.

But do NOT allow Nintendo to update your console.  This could lead to it being bricked.

That’s it.  You’re done!

Yeah.  It’s geeky.  And you might have to play around a bit to get it right.  But it’s free, yo. And it’ll keep your warranty intact.  Remember, though, that if you want to KEEP your warranty intact, and you ever need to send your system in to Nintendo for service repair work, use your brain and remove the hacked IOS first so that Nintendo Co. doesn’t get tipped off!

If your budget is just a bit above free, though (and I do mean just a bit) – Then I highly recommend hitting the “Easy Button” and looking into this new software  that you can install right onto your PC that will let you make archive copies of Wii games as well as burn pirated ones with just a few clicks using your DVD-RW

Free is good, but the low price to save all the headaches is worth it in my mind.

Want to copy and burn your downloaded Wii games without the hassle and geekery?

A lot of the game copy apps being released are just repackaged versions of Windows Media Player.  They’ll burn you a music CD, but they aren’t able to get past the copyright protection and encryption on Wii games.

Game Copy Wizard can.  Guaranteed.  Try it now, risk free.
